The ABCs of the routine – Tips for teenage skin
Cleaning
Choose a cleanser adapted to your skin type to remove dirt and impurities from the skin. It is especially important in the evening when the skin has been exposed to bacteria and dirt all day. Then make sure to change pillowcases often to let your skin rest against a clean surface when you sleep.
Moisturize
When the skin feels oily and shiny, it is easy to think that the answer lies in drying out the skin, but that is wrong. The key to healthy skin is hydration, even if you feel your skin is oily and greasy. Contact us if you want to know more!
Feel free to use an exfoliator
Exfoliating the skin helps cell renewal so that dead bacteria disappear from the skin. However, it is important not to overexfoliate the skin, but to work slowly with an even balance.
AHA
AHA stands for Alpha hydroxy acids and consists of several different types of acids. There are essentially six different AHA acids extracted from three different sources: sugar cane, milk and fruit. The 6 acids that are mainly included among AHA acids are:
- Glycolic acid
- Lactic acid
- Tartaric acid
- Citric acid
- Malic acid
- Mandelic acid
AHA acids are used to speed up cell renewal and exfoliate (peel) away old, used-up cells. The acid also raises the skin’s moisture levels, removes pigmentation and helps soothe and prevent acne. When you remove the dull and dull surface, space is left for nice, smooth skin.
The two most common and effective acid ingredients in skin care are glycolic acid and lactic acid. Glycolic acid is the smallest molecule of AHA acids, which means that it can penetrate the skin very effectively. It can be produced naturally from sugar cane and synthetically. Glycolic acid’s main properties are to remove dead skin cells, which prevents dry and chapped skin. It can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles in the skin.
Lactic acid is produced from sour milk products, fermented fruits and vegetables. It is milder than glycolic acid but still very effective. Lactic acid is balancing and is preferred if you have unbalanced or oilier skin. The acid also promotes the skin’s ability to bind moisture and therefore even dry skin can benefit from the acid’s properties. Because lactic acid is antibacterial, it works against visible pores and acne as well as pigmentation caused by the sun.
Allantoin
Allantoin is a naturally occurring, non-toxic, and non-irritating ingredient commonly used in skin care products. It provides several benefits, including:
- Moisturizing: Allantoin helps to hydrate the skin and soothe dry, irritated or flaky skin.
- Healing: Allantoin is known to stimulate the growth of healthy tissue, promote wound healing and reduce scarring.
- Soothing: It has a calming effect on the skin, helping to reduce redness, itching, and discomfort associated with various skin conditions.
- Exfoliating: Allantoin helps to gently remove dead skin cells and promote cell renewal, leading to smoother and brighter skin.
- Anti-inflammatory: It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce swelling and redness caused by various skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis.
Overall, Allantoin is a versatile and effective ingredient that can provide many benefits for the skin, making it a popular choice for many skin care products.
BHA
Beta Hydroxy Acid or salicylic acid is found naturally in willow trees, among other things, but is also made synthetically. BHA acid is often used on impure skin because it has anti-inflammatory properties. The acid is also good at treating pigmented skin, wrinkles and peeling away dead skin cells. The main difference between AHA and BHA is that AHA acid is water soluble while BHA is oil soluble.
Dendriclear™
Dendriclear™ is a unique patented molecule that is an ingredient found in all Simply Teens products in various strengths. The molecule is innovatively developed to be able to fight acne bacteria less aggressively – it both prevents, maintains and provides good skin health in general
Dendriclear™ is and will be a common thread in Simply Teen’s brand and future product developments.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in the body. It is present in high concentrations in the skin and joints. In skin care, it is commonly used as a moisturizing ingredient due to its ability to hold onto and retain water, providing the skin with hydration and plumpness.
The benefits of using Hyaluronic Acid in skin care include:
- Hydration: Hyaluronic Acid is capable of holding onto large amounts of water, providing the skin with long-lasting hydration and a plump, youthful appearance.
- Anti-Aging: Hyaluronic Acid helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by filling in the spaces between skin cells, giving the skin a more smooth and youthful appearance.
- Skin Repair: Hyaluronic Acid is involved in wound healing and tissue repair, making it a great ingredient for use in skin care products aimed at reducing the appearance of scars and promoting skin rejuvenation.
- Reduces Inflammation: Hyaluronic Acid has anti-inflammatory properties, making it suitable for use in skin care products for individuals with sensitive skin.
- Brightening: By improving skin hydration, Hyaluronic Acid can help to give the skin a more radiant and glowing appearance.
Overall, Hyaluronic Acid is a versatile ingredient with many benefits for the skin, making it a popular choice for inclusion in many skin care products.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3, also known as nicotinamide. It is a water-soluble vitamin that is widely used in skin care for its various benefits.
Some of the benefits of Niacinamide in skin care include:
- Moisturizing: Niacinamide helps to improve the skin’s barrier function, reducing water loss and keeping the skin hydrated.
- Brightening: It has been shown to reduce the production of melanin, helping to brighten the skin and even out skin tone.
- Anti-aging: Niacinamide has been shown to stimulate collagen production, helping to improve the skin’s elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Calming: Niacinamide has anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful for calming irritated skin and reducing redness.
- Acne-fighting: It has been shown to reduce sebum production and improve skin barrier function, making it useful for individuals with acne-prone skin.
Overall, Niacinamide is a highly effective and versatile ingredient that can provide a range of benefits for the skin, making it a popular choice for inclusion in many skin care products.
PHA
PHA (polyhydroxy acid) is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that is commonly used in skin care products. Unlike AHAs like glycolic and lactic acid, PHAs have a larger molecular structure which allows them to penetrate the skin more slowly and gently.
Some of the benefits of using PHA in skin care include:
- Exfoliation: PHAs help to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and promoting cell renewal.
- Hydration: PHA has the ability to attract and retain moisture, providing the skin with hydration and plumpness.
- Anti-Aging: PHAs have been shown to stimulate collagen production, helping to improve the skin’s elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
- Brightening: PHA can help to even out skin tone and improve skin texture, giving the skin a more radiant and glowing appearance.
- Gentle: PHAs are known for their gentleness, making them a great choice for individuals with sensitive skin who may be unable to use traditional AHAs.
Overall, PHA is a versatile and effective ingredient that can provide many benefits for the skin, making it a popular choice for inclusion in many skin care products.
